About Kyoko Kimono

KYOKO KIMONO is a handmade silk accessories brand in Amsterdam. Beautiful Japanese vintage silk kimonos are redesigned by Kyoko Inatome with craftsmanship and sustainability, influenced by the Dutch and Japanese Mottainai spirit.Kyoko is a Japanese Artist with a background in Ceramics and Contemporary Art. She discovered the beauty of kimono and Japanese crafts when she lived in Kyoto during her Master in Ceramics at Kyoto City University of Art. Moving to Amsterdam, she received her MA in Fine Arts at Sandberg Institute Amsterdam and started her artistic practice, eventually founding her own brand focused on sustainable, upcycled fashion.

Silk

Kimono silk is a breathable fabric with a gentle and soothing touch. This makes our products cool in the summer yet warm in the winter. All the products at KYOKO KIMONO are 100% silk made from upcycled vintage and antique kimonos which are older than 100 years.

Silk Care

KYOKO KIMONO products are made from delicate vintage kimonos. Kimono silk may shrink or fade when treated incorrectly. In order to keep the original soft texture and colour, it is recommended not to machine wash or hand wash. Dry cleaning is recommended when necessary.

When your silk product gets wrinkles, you can iron it. Set your iron in the silk/low setting. Place a handkerchief or thin piece of cloth between the iron and the silk. Do not iron silk in high temperatures. Always remember that silk is a protein structure much like human hair. Heat can easily damage the silk. Please do not use bleach and do not use the drying machine.
